ALL CHECKS HAVE BEEN MAILED OUT!!! HAPPY HOLIDAY'S !!!

12-04-09

The birds are up and the weather is great! The winds all along the coarse are west from 6-12 mph (side wind). The distance is 300 miles and the sky is clear all the way home. The release was at 8:00 am in Bellville Kansas. They were hauled by Lee Brower, one of my club members and good friend. They were in the best of hands. We expect 42-48 mph for speeds today, although side winds are hard to predict. 132 birds went to the final race. We only lost  1 pigeon on the 200 mile race last week. We think the birds will be spread out really good on this one but a good day to fly non the less. We wish all of you the best of luck. We will double check all average speeds before the official results are posted on the average speed winner after the final race today. Go to the 2009 results page to see live stream video of today's final race.

11-29-09

We are looking closely at the weather for our next race. There will be several fronts coming this next week so the winds always pick up from the south before each front and then shift strong from the north as the fronts pass by. This makes it hard to predict the winds. We want a good race, no blow home and no brutal nose beater so we will play it day by day and look for the lightest winds we can get whatever direction. We had hoped to fly it Saturday during our auction and festivities but at this time the long range forcast calls for 20-30 mph headwind so if that is the case we will not fly just for the sake of the auction. Regardless if we fly the race before, during, or after the auction we will have a great time at the auction Saturday with pigeon TV being on hand for a great event and 80 World Class pigeons for auction from some of the top lofts in America. Lots to eat and drink, so everyone make plans to come join us. The weather will be Sunny and about 45 degrees. We will not fly with a 20-30 mph tail wind either. This may be a case when we get a good day we just go for the best of the birds. A 10 mph head wind is ok and we will adjust distance for time on the wing to get day birds. A 10 mph tail wind is ok and in that case we may go 320 miles. Slim chance we will find the perfect day from North Kansas to Oklahoma. We go when the birds have a good chance of performing on the day, hopefully at 1200-1400 ypm. We have roughly 8 1/2 bright hours of sun each day and it gets a few minutes shorter everyday. We will advise when we go.

BIRDS LOAD TONIGHT FOR THE 150 MILE RACE. SEE ENTRY LIST ON RESULTS PAGE. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!!

11-15-09  We will race the 150 mile on Weds weather permitting. We will keep you posted.

11-9-09

The birds will be loaded tonight for the first 100 mile race to be released in the morning, Tuesday 11-10-09. Please see the race results page for the entry list that is posted and for the race results which will be posted as soon as we get a good group of birds in. We have struggled this year getting started but now it's time to go! Good luck everyone! We will post a revised payout this evening. There are some payments still due but we will base the payout for now on what we are certain of.

11-8-09

Took the birds on a short toss this morning and turned up them up in groups into a head wind of 15-18 mph. The birds came in groups just as we turned them up and were all together loft flying within 5 minutes of arrival. The birds did not circle at all and left into the wind quickly. We actually followed one of the groups for nearly 10 miles and they were of course flying low but lined out and moving directly on line. Their speed today was around 35 mph so they got a good 45 min work out and even longer if you count the loft flying they did after they arrived. The birds are ready and healthy and we should be able to go either Tuesday or Wed for the 1st 100 mile race. We did not have the clock on today because it was short and we group tossed them for safety reasons but as far as I can tell they are all here safely. We will keep you posted and if we fly Tuesday we will post the entry list for you so you can see what birds go to the 1st race. Some of you may have a back up bird that needs to be paid so if you are not sure please call me at 405-250-7078.  There also a few not paid that needs to be sent in asap. Please call if you have any questions. We need to post a revised payout as soon as we can. Thank you all and best of luck!

11-6-09

Well, the weather has done it to us again! The 1st race has been postponed due to high winds predicted today and all the way through the weekend. It looks like Tuesday or Wed is our first chance to get a race in. The birds will be loft flown the next several days but will not be trained in the high winds for their safety. We all want to race and the birds are ready but head winds of 25-30 are just to much. We will keep you updated.

11-4-09  GET THE MONEY IN "ITS TIME TO RACE"

Well another training toss from 70 miles is in the books. The birds came good and all is well. This has not been a good morning otherwise. My printer decided it was sick today like everyone else so I had to copy and paste the results direct from W-Speed. Sorry if it is a little jumbled up but at least it is here for you to see. I believe all the birds are home as I post this. The conditions and release times are on the report. I hope to start this series Friday with their first race from 100 miles. We have high winds for the weekend and then more chances of rain so I would like to get this thing started. Notice the remarkable clocking of Tentil 343. First in the trap on two 70 mile tosses in a row.  I understand that a sibling was 1st in the trap in the Winnerscupusa in 7 or 8 training tosses is what makes this really remarkable. We are starting to see a lot of repeat birds on the 1st page. This is going to be a fight to the finish. Lots of Quality in the loft thanks to all of you.

We do have 3 injured birds that did not go today.

11-02-09 Monday 70 mile toss. Great working day for the birds. They started with a light tail wind and finished with a light head wind having to cross a light wind shift front in between. We had group after group on top of us and they got nearly 1 1/2 hours on the wing today with temps above normal (close to 70). below is today's toss

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE UNICON TIME IS OFF BY  1 HOUR> ARRIVAL WAS  10:24. SORRY!!!!!!

Randy

11-01-09 SUNDAY  60 mile toss today with a nice working headwind and clear sky's. Results posted below. We are pushing the birds on out this week and they are coming good. We have a few late ones and have lost a few this last week but the majority of the birds are coming on target. Last toss we had birds that showed unassigned, today we missed some on the clock. This will not happen in Race Mode. We push them in quickly to avoid Hawks so a few are getting missed.

10-31-09   Birds went back to 50 miles with a west wind at their side and clear sky. The groups came good.

10-30-09   MORNING RAIN NO TRAINING

10-29-09   HEAVY RAIN NO TRAINING

10-28-09   HIGH WIND NO TRAINING

10-27-09  The birds were trained from 50 miles today and turned up in two large groups. The birds returned in just over an hour with calm conditions and clear sky. The next two days are a scratch but that is OK since we have trained 5 days in a row. We hope to resume training SAT , SUN, MON and TUESDAY. We plan on another 50 mile toss Saturday and then 65 miles on Sunday followed by an 80 mile toss Monday or Tuesday and we will be posting the training results for the 65 and 80 mile tosses when the birds all go up together. Good luck to all of you!

10-26-09 Monday   The birds have had around  8 or 9 tosses to this point.

We tossed the birds in partly cloudy conditions with a tailwind of 18 mph from 30 miles. Again the birds did a super job and came good. We hope to move them out quicker now that we have had several days to get them in a groove. It looks like we go again in the morning and this time they will have headwind again at 10 mph and a mostly clear sky. We will keep you posted. If we do not get bad weather we hope to have the birds out to 60-70 miles by the weekend. After that we go 100 miles and then start racing! The birds are healthy and fit as a fiddle and ready to go so keep those fingers crossed. We will keep you updated. Even with a short toss and strong headwinds the birds came online from the direct north and did not over fly so they seem very sharp between the eyes. Thanks

Birds were tossed again from 25 miles into a good headwind of about 15-18 mph in groups. All did great and came just as we released them. We go again in the morning if not raining.

10-24-09 Saturday

Hi everyone

The birds were trained today from 20 miles and let up in two large groups. They did not circle at all and they beat me back to the loft. It was a great day to train with clear sky and calm wind conditions. Put this one in the book as a great toss! Take a look at the forecast. It is going to make it tough on us yet again with 3 days of rain showing. This is unbelievable and very aggravating when trying to get your birds trained out. We will do the our best to get them ready although more patience may be needed yet. Good luck.

Today's training toss video. The birds did a great job although they did circle more than they usually do. The weather is not treating us very well this year and if we wait much longer we will be flying a yearling race! Lets hope we can get them going now, they are ready. The wind was very strong from the West , NW. Enjoy the video. The birds will go again tomorrow.

WOW Truck Race Training Toss 2009

10-18-09

It is a beautiful Sunday morning, except very windy. The birds have been trained everyday and have done very good. Today we also trained but did things a little different. The wind was on their nose at 18 mph with gust to 20mph. That is about the limit on deciding to train or not so we did put the birds up in very small groups and stayed short. We put them up in smaller groups knowing that they would be flying very low in hopes to eliminate injuries. The birds came super and decided to loft fly over an hour after returning getting together around the loft. They did not circle much and seemed to not be afraid to head into the wind. We will try and continue to be very careful the next few days with high winds expected for at least 2 or 3 more days. What a year this has been in regards to weather! We will get there sooner or later. I took some pictures of the birds today along with a few random close ups after their toss so maybe a few of you can actually see your bird up close. The flags at the loft area show the strength of the wind. They are standing full attention facing north directly against the birds today. They were given a nice relaxing bath when they returned. Enjoy the pictures, we will keep you posted.

Below is our local forecast and 7 day planner. We hope to train Friday ,Sat, Sunday, and Monday. The wind Sunday and Monday will be on their nose so as long as the wind stays low early we should be ok. We are not out that far with them yet due to 3 weeks of nasty, wet weather. Hopefully the long range forecast for Tues, Wed, and Thursday will prove to be wrong and we can slip a toss or two in that period as well. We will see about that when the time comes. This is one of those things we have no control over. I want to get a good 15-20 tosses on these birds before the 1st race of 150 miles and want them out to 100 miles at least once.

10-12-09

As many of you may know the weather here in Oklahoma has not been the best for training pigeons. Rain, low overcast skies, and colder than normal. Saturday we did get about a 4 hour break and took the birds on their second toss. They did fine and we got them all home. Today and the rest of the week up to Friday looks like bad weather. We may be able to get a toss in Friday and it looks like we may get a break for the weekend and first of next week. Again, this is affecting most races here in the mid-west and there is nothing anyone can do about it. We will resume training as soon as we think it is safe for the birds without it being risky. No doubt this will move our start date back further than we like but so be it. We will have a race ! In the mean time we will continue to stay on top of the birds and keep them loft flying. They all look great. Please send in your payments if you have not done so. Remember we have a few extra birds you can pick up for the race as well. They are listed on the entry page at the bottom. Thanks again for your support.

Well today was a single beautiful cool sunny day with no wind early so off we went with the birds for their first toss at 5 miles. We let them up in 4 groups at 3-5 minutes apart. They all left quickly and arrived just as we had turned them loose. It was a great first toss and now we watch it rain for the next two days and we will resume training after that. We hope to go maybe Friday mid morning if the rain moves out in time, if not we will go Sat and Sun providing the winds are not to strong behind the front.  If so, we will hit them every day next week as much as we can. Today the birds arrived, got together and flew for over 2 hours around the loft. Mr. Cooper snagged a bird today out of the air. He singled a bird out and the chase was on and by the time I ran a block down the road where he caught the bird it was to late. The cooper flew off and we retrieved the bird. The number was Hole in Wind Christ 35, a beautiful BB W.F Pied hen. As a loft manager it hurts to see this happen but it was out of our control. We feel horrible for the owner's mis fortune. It looks like we are only a bird or two short from today's toss and we expect close to a 100% return if not 100%. We spend the first two hours every day guarding the birds while they loft fly and have not seen a hawk in several weeks so hopefully she is just passing through. Below are some photo's of the birds returning and flying today after their return. Good luck to all. I have not made it to CBS to pick up the chips but will get them on the birds this weekend.

9-30-09

Well, we are really getting excited to start road training the birds soon. They have been loft flying great and are now showing us that they are ready when we are. With that said here is our plan. We will work the birds into the training truck and give them a chance to go out through the truck to loft fly for about 7 days beginning tomorrow. They will be taught to drink in the truck as well. We want to start road training no later than 10 days from now. Once we start we will go every day weather permitting. We will post updates on their progress and start posting training results once we are out to 50 miles. What we will do before we start is run all birds across the scanner once their chips are on prior to the start of road training so you can have an updated inventory of what number of birds we start training with. I will say that the inventory posted now is pretty accurate because we have only lost 5 birds since the last inventory. We will post several video's real soon so you can see the birds and what condition they are in now and before training. They really look great and are all super healthy. We look to have a great race series with a fine group of birds that we devoted a lot of time too in keeping them healthy and in condition and we hope that you as a fancier and us as your handler get rewarded for the efforts and great breeding that have gone into this years race. If we get a string of bad days ,weather related we will certainly not start the series until we feel the birds have had the best training we can give them. They are all equal here. We will keep you posted. Thanks for your support.

Well we actually got the chance to loft fly the birds yesterday and again today between the rain bands that slip by now and then. I know we just updated yesterday but we took a few photo's of one of the larger groups flying and wanted to share them with you. We are having a few smaller groups really go out routing but would like to see all of them routing good before road training. Most of the birds flew at least an hour today and yesterday with the exception of a few. Hope you enjoy. We will start our video's soon and they will also be on this page. Thanks alot.

Hello everyone

Well the rain just won't stop! We thought it was out of here but the low pressure system stalled and backed up into Oklahoma again. With tropical systems like this you can get 2 inches of rain from one little storm pocket. With all that said the birds look super! They flew out yesterday but now have to be kept in again today due to more rain.

This really sets us back but the good thing is they are all equal and whenever we get them ready to road train they will all start together no matter. We would rather take the time to make sure the birds are really ready for that first toss than rush it just for the sake of meeting a starting date. They are all in super health, look like diamonds, and know the drill as far as trapping. The droppings look great and the birds just look sharp. We just need a few weeks to get them all out starting to route before we go down the road. We do have a few trouble birds that fly and route out and come in well after the rest and we have no idea where they are going but we have that every year.

There are two other lofts within a few miles of WOW and perhaps they have hooked up with other birds for the joy of it, who knows? Just wanted you to know that the birds are ready to start working hard if we can just get the rain out of here. That part is out of our hands so we just wait. Losses have been small for what seems to be one of those tough years, but we hope to get a good percentage of the birds to that first race. We will work as hard at it as we can but they will be trained well once we start. Thanks for the support this year and we wish all of you the best! We will keep you updated. PS. We do have some extra birds on the list that are available to anyone who would like to activate them. Thanks again

Randy

9-10-09 Below are some random photo's of the birds in the loft. We took pictures of birds in every section so you could see for yourself the condition the birds are in. We have had zero health problems. Most of our losses have come from around the loft . The birds are flying out everyday and are doing well. We also took a few pictures of the droppings beneath the perches this morning before we cleaned so you could see them as well. We may not have as many birds this year but we will continue to take pride in what we do and have your pigeons in top condition for the task ahead. We are looking at a rainy 4 or 5 days so we may not get the flying time we want and need this week but we will not start the series until we know the birds are ready regardless. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

8-28-09  We lost our first bird I know of this year to Mr.Hawk. I was calling the birds in and had one of the last small groups hit the board and the hawk came out of nowhere and latched onto one of them. The bird got loose but had been punctured and died in my hand. The bird was 09 GSV-6745. Nothing I could do.

8-25-09

The birds are starting to come around and the flights are about grown back in completely. The body molt on some of the younger birds is starting to finish off. We are letting them out every day now regardless of wind as long as it is not extreme. They will have to fly in the wind so they need to see it around the loft as well. My thinking anyway. We  will start flagging Monday. We will get them into condition the next several weeks and try and start road training towards the end of September which will allow dove season to pass here in Oklahoma for the most part. Since our last inventory not much has changed. We have a handful of pigeons (3 or 4) that are high spirited or what ever you call those who trade off being gone one day and back the next. Our plan is to start the series the end of October or the first week of November. When we feel they are ready we will start. They are all equal !!!! We will keep you posted.

Thanks to all

Randy

8-12-09

The birds are looking good and their flights are over 1/2 way out so they should be starting to fly better by next week. We have not kept the birds locked down, they have been out every decent day we have had. They have not been flying all that well with their flights short, but they have been given the chance to fly if they wish too. They are all very healthy and most are starting to really slick up and shine. Their eyes are bright, their ceres are chalky white and they just look good. Just before we pulled flights back in July we ran the birds on a health clean up program. We will let them fly out everyday starting next week and the week after we will start flagging them and work them into condition before we start road training. I like to see them all flying 45 mins to 1 hour before road training and like to give them at least 3-4 weeks of that air time before starting. Once we start road training we will not stop. Until next time, have a great week.

7-29-09

Although the birds have had their flights removed we are still letting them out every day we can. They are not flying much but some do. We are not forcing them. No health problems with any of the birds, all is well. Not much to report other than as soon as the flights are grown in proper we will start flagging the birds and get them ready for road training. Below are a few new pictures of  the birds enjoying their outing yesterday 7-28-09. We call them in by noon and they are responding well. The molt on some of the younger birds is in progress and the older birds are finished for the most part. They all look very good.

7-22-09

The birds are doing well. We have poxed them, pulled the flights, and sprayed them for lice and fly's again. We will not allow them to take a bath for several weeks since they have been poxed. We will let the birds outside from time to time but do not expect them to fly much for a few weeks and we certainly will not force them until the flights grow back in at least 3/4 of the way. Since we are starting a few weeks later this year we will get the birds up and going in August and September again and then begin road training. They really look great with the exception of the molt. We will keep you posted.

7- 14-09

The birds are doing well and today they are having fun bathing in the sun. Not much going at this time. The birds are not being forced to fly but they are being let out in groups nearly everyday now. The weather here is extremely hot ( over 103 everyday) so they do not fly for long. We are just letting them outside to enjoy themselves and if they want to fly they can. The molt on the older birds is coming along great and the younger ones are catching up. Below are a few photo's of a group outside today enjoying a cool bath! Wish we could fit in that pan with them!!!!!!! We will keep you posted.

6-24-09 Check current inventory and send replacements by July 15th. Water the birds good before shipping. GO TO ENTRY PAGE

The Truck Race birds are being let out daily around 10:00-11:00. We are not forcing them to fly but several are flying very good. Our losses are very small and we will take an inventory Friday and notify you of any replacements needed. The birds have settled well this year so far. We will be taking birds until July 1st and replacements until July 15th. We will not start the series until late October. Any birds here by July 15th will be just fine. Good luck to all of you.

Here are the changes we have made. Now is your chance to get in one of the best Races in America!

1.

We will be accepting birds until July 1st. Replacements until July 15th

We have just about got every bird settled in. We are working the birds but force flying anything right now. We are hoping to get another group in with our extended format allowing entries and replacements up to July 1st and just starting our series about 3 weeks later than normal. Good luck to all . The birds are healthy and looking great.

5-20-09

We are still getting birds for this years race which is down in numbers this year like many other races. We are working the birds everyday. Weather is good, warm, and dry. All the rain and stormy weather set us back a bit but we have lots of time for this one! Birds are healthy and look great! We will keep you posted. Thanks to those who supported us this year. We are glad you did not miss out on one of the best races in the sport! Anyone wanting in, or that would like to send more birds, you still have time. Just give us a call at 404-250-7078 and let us know you intend to ship this month.

5-13-09

We are still taking birds until June 1st. Don't miss this race!!!!!!! The birds here are in great health and trapping good. The weather has put a damper on getting them outside everyday but we are working with the birds everyday regardless of weather. The latest arrivals have a section of their own and will be worked outside in their own group. Have not had any problems to this point. Every bird has been vaccinated for pmv-1 and we will pox in late June or July. We will keep you posted.

5-6-09

We have had a lot of rain, nearly two weeks worth so the birds have not been out much. We have worked the new arrivals through the settling pen along with all the others in between the rain storms. Not much to add at this point except that all the birds are healthy and doing fine. We hope the weather breaks enough that we can get them out everyday soon. If we have lost any of your birds we will call you and let you know. Thanks to all.

4-29-09

Birds are doing well and we have been working them in groups. The weather this week has been very stormy and lots of rain today so not much to tell at this point. Birds are healthy and doing fine.

4-23-09

The birds are coming in and we will continue taking birds until June 1st. Please tell your friends about our race and the efforts we put into making it the very best!  We are still working birds in groups as we get them. All have been vaccinated for pmv-1 upon arrival and all birds are healthy and well. We are in the stages of working the groups as weather permits but not rushing things at this time. If we loose one of your birds we will notify you ASAP. Thanks to all of you for your support.

4-16-09

The birds are doing great and we are working them in groups as more come in. Not much to report at this time as everything is going great with the birds as we get them lofted in and flying about a group at a time. We will keep you posted on any lost birds. Thank You.

updated 4-8-09

We are working the birds daily and they are trapping good. We will work them in groups as they come in working them outside on good days only. All is well at the Truck Race. April and May are the heavy months to receive birds and they are starting to come in good. We are watching the birds close as they adjust and have had no health problems with the birds as of today. All looks great! Any birds lost settling we will let you know. Thanks for your support!
