2008  Training and Race Schedule           Updated  6/3/08

This year's series is again from the North, one of the toughest race coarses in Oklahoma. What make's this coarse tough? Well, most of the club races start in September when the temps are still hot and the wind is mostly from the south direction making it very tough on young birds at the beginning. In October we start to see winds shift from the north and the with those winds come cooler temps. For that reason we will start our training in early September but keep the birds at 50 or 60 miles getting them up early before the heat until we get a cool snap. The birds will be ready for the longer tosses by then and should have less trouble. We hope to have them out to 100 miles at least twice before the first race. We have in the past not done a lot of mid week road training because we did not want to have a bad toss and loose birds during the series. This year we will train mid week and more often simply because we think it will help all birds in the end. We can condition the birds as well around the loft but keeping them sharp in the head is also important. We know we will most likely have some loses but that is pigeon racing! We want all the birds to be well trained and ready for the task of racing. We will be using the wind speed program to figure all points given to the top 20% of the birds as they trap each race. We also plan to have a 400 mile race with WinnerscupUSA two weeks following the final 300 mile truck Race. This is a seperate race and will have no affect on the Truck Race final point standings. The Truck Race is over after the final 300 mile race. We will first have all our birds in super health and condition before training and during the races. We will not turn our birds up in dangerous conditions just to get a race in. If we have to wait a few days we will. No headwinds above 20-25 mph, no fog, and no heavy rain. All else is a go!

Below is our schedule for our races this year (2008) We will GPS each station so distance may vary a few miles.
