Friday we had 78 day birds with a side westerly side wind and very cold. Saturday it was a windy south head wind day of 25 mph and cold and the birds kept coming early. We picked up another 25 pigeons quickly and they continued to come all day long. On the 3rd day we have already had 2 more pigeons come early morning. We will list tomorrow all pigeons home since the 78 day birds.

300 MILE RESULTS POSTED BELOW THIS MESSAGE

Greetings everyone. We want to congratulate the birds today for doing a fine job on a pretty tough race. The weather was clear and bright and the winds never helped the birds. The hauler said the winds were strongest from just around the Kansas border (120 mile) from home and that they may have reached 12-15 mph from the west. At the loft the winds were variable from W - NW- SW but never above 10 mph that we could tell. We do know the birds came from the east and south east with the exception of those first 12 or 15 birds. Even the birds coming from the east over an hour later had not been down and were pretty tired. We will post today's results when it gets dark. We hope to get most of the pigeons back and it looks as if we will have a good group home today. Saturday the strong headwinds return up to 25 mph so we did the right thing by having the race today. We will send the results to Terry tonight and hope to have the Average speed winners posted tomorrow. Thank you all for your support and we wish all of you could have been money winners, but we do hope you enjoyed the series. The birds were great to work with, even if we did not get the numbers we wanted. All we can tell you is, we take the best of care of your entries from day one and we work them and keep them on a good management program. The final results are our report card. Our grade depends on how the birds perform and what you supporters think of the race series in the end. Only so many can win money but the truth of it all is how well did your birds get taken care of, how well were you kept updated, and how healthy are your birds when they get returned to you. The birds are up and the weather is great! The winds all along the coarse are west from 6-12 mph (side wind). The distance is 300 miles and the sky is clear all the way home. The release was at 8:00 am in Bellville Kansas. They were hauled by Lee Brower, one of my club members and good friend. They were in the best of hands. We expect 42-48 mph for speeds today, although side winds are hard to predict. 132 birds went to the final race. We only lost  1 pigeon on the 200 mile race last week. We think the birds will be spread out really good on this one but a good day to fly non the less. We wish all of you the best of luck. We will double check all average speeds before the official results are posted on the average speed winner after the final race today. Below is a current Average Speed standing of the Truck Race birds after 3 races. These standings are official going into the final 300 mile event..

 Thanks to Terry Gilmore for merging our races together and giving us these official results. It looks like we fly the final race on Friday from 300 miles. If that changes we will let you know. Right now it looks like a 1400-1500 ypm race on Friday with light wind most of the way. That can change. Good luck to all of you on the last race and thank you all for your support.

If you do not see your bird on the list it was most likely a second day bird and we will figure those if needed after the 300. We do have 133 pigeons here and 130 will go to the 300 final race. It is very possible that we will have live clocking on the final race and live video as well. Tune in to this page to watch the final 300.

Well, this was a fast one!! The first 4 pigeons had speeds of close to 68 mph. The groups that followed did over 62 mph and the rest of the birds came from the deep South east which means they over shot the loft. 11-25-09  HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!

The birds were released at 8:00 in McPherson Kansas in clear skies and 32 degrees. Winds were 10-14 NNW. Along the flight back the winds will be WNW at 10-15 with some areas perhaps close to 20 mph. Here at the loft the winds were light but have picked up some from the WNW. We expect a fast race if the wind stays more north than west. We think the birds will arrive between 11:20 and 11:30 should the winds remain as predicted. We will be video taping the return of the birds and will post a video as soon as we can get Chris to get it posted to You Tube so we can download it onto our results page. We pulled a few birds out for this one due to injuries or the owners wanting to give them a better chance at the 300. We will post an entry list later but we sent 133 birds to this one. 11-24-09 Birds have been fed and watered and are in the loft until we load tonight. They are standing on the feeders flapping their wings, raising up and down and seem to be full of energy and wanting to go. The winds will be stronger than I wanted on their tail at release. Calling for lighter the second half of the coarse with some west to them so maybe it will be a bit tougher than we think and break them up a bit. Anyway, Richard Henry will be the hauler on this one and I stay here at the loft. Good luck to all of you.

11-23-09    We ship tomorrow for the 200 mile release on Wed. Birds were trained 50 miles Sunday into a light headwind and did super! Weather looks good with a light NW wind. Dr. Roger Harlin DVM stopped in to inspect the birds today and looked at several birds from each section as well as the entire group, observing them in the loft. 11-17-17  THE BIRDS HAVE BEEN SCANNED AND PLACED BACK INTO THE LOFT TO RELAX THE REST OF THE DAY. THEY WILL SELF LOAD TONIGHT FOR THE TRIP TO KANSAS IN THE MORNING. WEATHER SO FAR IS CALLING TO BE CLOUDY AT RELEASE AND SUNNY IN OKLAHOMA WITH VERY LIGHT AND VARIABLE WINDS.  IT SHOULD SEPARATE THE BIRDS A BIT AND BE A GOOD WORKING RACE. WE WISH ALL OF YOU THE BEST OF LUCK, THE BIRDS LOOK GOOD. THE ENTRY LIST IS POSTED BELOW FOR THE 150 MILE RACE.

 

 

11-10-09   BIRDS WERE RELEASED AT 11:30 DUE TO FOG

 

HAVE NO FEAR, THE BIRDS ARE HERE!!!!!!!! We had 57 on the drop at 1:31 pm and then 2 and then more larger groups and we just got a drop of nearly 40 more so we are not out all that many but they were broke up. The last large group came back from the south so they over flew us. Low overcast and light mist when the birds arrived. Since this is average speed we will leave the clock in for a while but wanted to let you know. Thank You.

PS Congratulations to Carl and Tim Perry and Archie Kimberlin having the first birds in the trap today!!!! It was a tie!!!!

UPDATE  11-5-08   Final race will be this Saturday Nov 8th.  We will have live clocking. It appears that there is no way around getting a tail wind. The forecast changed to tail winds for Saturday and rain again Sunday.  So be it.   The birds have been flying everyday and look super and are ready to race. On the live clocking link the points are all updated and for those who are not understanding the points here is what we give.  The top 20% of the pigeons in all race's get points. No points are given after the top 20% have clocked. The points do increase with distance but are cut off after the top 20% have clocked.  EXAMPLE  Say 150 birds in the race. The points stop after the 30th bird.  31st  on down get no points. Hope this helps. We will most likely change this for next year but for this year it is what it is. Good Luck to everyone of you this finale race! We will double check all points to make sure they are correct after the last race. We know of one bird that was in the points at 23rd place last race that for some reason failed to get added to the overall points. 

We will fly a 400 mile race aprox 10 days after the 300 depending on the type of race the birds have. If very easy we may go to the 400 within 6 days. If you are planning on entering your birds the 400 please let us know as soon as the 300 mile race is over. We need to get at least 60 birds committed if possible. Entry fee is 250 per bird cut 30.00 per bird for the World of Wings.

With 60 birds the payout will be in clocking order. More birds more payout places.

The birds went up at 8:15 with a light WEST NORTH WEST WIND at 6 mph. As the birds move down the coarse for the first 100 miles they should have a light tailwind at 6 to 8 mph through Kansas and once they get to Oklahoma the last 100 miles will be a light headwind  7 to 10 mph. This makes it hard to figure when they will arrive but lets assume that they fly 48-50 mph the first 100 miles and then 38-40 the last 100 miles that would give them an average flight speed between 42-45 mph. At 45 we could have birds around 12:30.  Providing the winds stay below 10mph in Oklahoma they could get here before that time. If the wind picks up above 10mph in Oklahoma it may be 1:00 before we get birds. Lets hope for a good race and get a good bunch of birds home so we can have a shoot out at the 300 mile final race with a good group of birds. Good luck to all of you. We hope the live clocking works ok because we ran a lot of cable to get to the loft so we will see. The clock will work just fine so at worst we will have to print out the results as we have in the past. **UPDATE** 10-30-08   LETS RACE !!!!!!!!!

Latest wind forecast is  WEST wind at 6 mph at release (side wind).

Wichita Kansas 150 mile station  WEST SOUTH WEST wind at 5 mph by 10:00 AM

Bramen Oklahoma 100 mile station  SOUTH SOUTH EAST wind at 6-7 mph

At the loft  from 10:00am -4:00 pm Winds from the SOUTH at 7-10 mph

As you can see this should be a good working race without overbearing winds. It will be tough enough and should separate the birds very well! We will check all winds again before release in the morning at 8:15 am from our 200 mile station. 

 

      We will be racing the 200 mile station again Friday. We hope to have live clocking for this race and will keep you posted on how to watch it. Most likely we will have a link on this page for you to click on. This is new to us and we have run cable a long distance to the loft so we hope it works out. If not, nothing hurt, we will make adjustments for next years race.  This race will not be 2100 ypm! The weather will be clear with headwinds less than 10 mph all along the path home with the strongest winds most likely here at the loft or the last 75 miles or so where they could be 12 mph. (Lets hope the weather forecast is accurate on that.). It will be a tough race even at 10 mph headwinds and the birds will have to work. The temps will be close to 75 degrees by the time the birds get here so it will be on the warm side as well.  We will release at 8:15 and expect ( if the winds stay below 10mph) at least a 5 hour race or close to it. Today the winds are 15-25 mph south and most of next week the winds will be 25 mph south so Friday is our best shot with lighter winds. The birds go back to the same release point as before and are certainly ready. If you go to underground weather you can get an hourly wind report from all points along the coarse. McPherson Kansas =200 miles , Wichita 150 miles, Braman Oklahoma 100, and Oklahoma City ending point. Just type in one of these and it will bring up a 5 day report for that city with hourly conditions. It is a great tool for deciding on race conditions and most of the time is pretty accurate. SUPER FAST RACE!!!!!!

The winds picked up on the birds tail reaching 22 mph. A lot of the birds over flew but we have great returns and Super fast speeds! We have posted the 1st page print out for now so you can see the winners. We will post the Win Speed results with points a bit later. Most all birds are here. We left off CVR 1272 which was 4th place tied with ESPO 22. The Unicon print just below this point page shows the correct order showing CVR 1272.
