UPDATE 11-5-08 Final race will be this Saturday Nov 8th. We will have live clocking. It appears that there is no way around getting a tail wind. The forecast changed to tail winds for Saturday and rain again Sunday. So be it. The birds have been flying everyday and look super and are ready to race. On the live clocking link the points are all updated and for those who are not understanding the points here is what we give. The top 20% of the pigeons in all race's get points. No points are given after the top 20% have clocked. The points do increase with distance but are cut off after the top 20% have clocked. EXAMPLE Say 150 birds in the race. The points stop after the 30th bird. 31st on down get no points. Hope this helps. We will most likely change this for next year but for this year it is what it is. Good Luck to everyone of you this finale race! We will double check all points to make sure they are correct after the last race. We know of one bird that was in the points at 23rd place last race that for some reason failed to get added to the overall points.
We will fly a 400 mile race aprox 10 days after the 300 depending on the type of race the birds have. If very easy we may go to the 400 within 6 days. If you are planning on entering your birds the 400 please let us know as soon as the 300 mile race is over. We need to get at least 60 birds committed if possible. Entry fee is 250 per bird cut 30.00 per bird for the World of Wings.
With 60 birds the payout will be in clocking order. More birds more payout places.

The birds went up at 8:15 with a light WEST NORTH WEST WIND at 6 mph. As the birds move down the coarse for the first 100 miles they should have a light tailwind at 6 to 8 mph through Kansas and once they get to Oklahoma the last 100 miles will be a light headwind 7 to 10 mph. This makes it hard to figure when they will arrive but lets assume that they fly 48-50 mph the first 100 miles and then 38-40 the last 100 miles that would give them an average flight speed between 42-45 mph. At 45 we could have birds around 12:30. Providing the winds stay below 10mph in Oklahoma they could get here before that time. If the wind picks up above 10mph in Oklahoma it may be 1:00 before we get birds. Lets hope for a good race and get a good bunch of birds home so we can have a shoot out at the 300 mile final race with a good group of birds. Good luck to all of you. We hope the live clocking works ok because we ran a lot of cable to get to the loft so we will see. The clock will work just fine so at worst we will have to print out the results as we have in the past. Latest wind forecast is WEST wind at 6 mph at release (side wind).
Wichita Kansas 150 mile station WEST SOUTH WEST wind at 5 mph by 10:00 AM
Bramen Oklahoma 100 mile station SOUTH SOUTH EAST wind at 6-7 mph
At the loft from 10:00am -4:00 pm Winds from the SOUTH at 7-10 mph
As you can see this should be a good working race without overbearing winds. It will be tough enough and should separate the birds very well! We will check all winds again before release in the morning at 8:15 am from our 200 mile station.
We will be racing the 200 mile station again Friday. We hope to have live clocking for this race and will keep you posted on how to watch it. Most likely we will have a link on this page for you to click on. This is new to us and we have run cable a long distance to the loft so we hope it works out. If not, nothing hurt, we will make adjustments for next years race. This race will not be 2100 ypm! The weather will be clear with headwinds less than 10 mph all along the path home with the strongest winds most likely here at the loft or the last 75 miles or so where they could be 12 mph. (Lets hope the weather forecast is accurate on that.). It will be a tough race even at 10 mph headwinds and the birds will have to work. The temps will be close to 75 degrees by the time the birds get here so it will be on the warm side as well. We will release at 8:15 and expect ( if the winds stay below 10mph) at least a 5 hour race or close to it. Today the winds are 15-25 mph south and most of next week the winds will be 25 mph south so Friday is our best shot with lighter winds. The birds go back to the same release point as before and are certainly ready. If you go to underground weather you can get an hourly wind report from all points along the coarse. McPherson Kansas =200 miles , Wichita 150 miles, Braman Oklahoma 100, and Oklahoma City ending point. Just type in one of these and it will bring up a 5 day report for that city with hourly conditions. It is a great tool for deciding on race conditions and most of the time is pretty accurate. SUPER FAST RACE!!!!!!
The winds picked up on the birds tail reaching 22 mph. A lot of the birds over flew but we have great returns and Super fast speeds! We have posted the 1st page print out for now so you can see the winners. We will post the Win Speed results with points a bit later. Most all birds are here. We left off CVR 1272 which was 4th place tied with ESPO 22. The Unicon print just below this point page shows the correct order showing CVR 1272.
All but 8 birds have returned and we expect more of them to return.

***Birds are coming in good early this morning. *** We know yesterday was tough and we certainly hope we can get at least 2/3 of the birds home today but the wind is the same as yesterday so that will not be easy. We will update the 2nd day birds later today. We want to leave the clock on as long as we can.
