This page is for general updates on how your Truck Race entries are doing.
***ALL ENTRY FEES ARE DUE BY AUGUST 1st ***
7-30-08 All the birds have had their 9th and 10th flights removed and are growing back in nicely. We are now letting the birds out again but not forcing them to fly just yet. The hot weather has set in on us with 100 plus degrees everyday for the most part. August the birds will be flagged and forced to get with the program. Training will start in September. Looking the birds over very closely while pulling flights , every bird is in super health ! We found no problems health wise. We hope everyone is having a great summer, we will keep you posted when things get going.
Old Message**** The weather has been very hot and extremely windy up until the last week or so. If it was not windy it was raining. We have been getting the birds out everyday we felt it was safe for them which has made it very difficult to get them all up and routing out together. However, all the birds have been lofted in and we no longer need the settling pen. Now we work on getting the younger ones up and flying with the older birds. The molt has gone well and the older birds are already on their 6th or 7th flight for the most part. We will pull flights at the end of this month or 1st of July. Any bird not molting at least the 3rd flight will not be pulled. This will be the case only on some of the latest arrivals. We will pox all birds at the same time so every bird will be completely protected. We have had no health problems at all. All year we had the total of 3 birds that needed any medication at all. We did run the entire group on a canker treatment during the wet weather but that is all the meds they have had to this date.
We do not give any special vitamins other than healthy pigeon blend which is more of a pro-biotic. Wheat germ oil is used to lightly coat the grain a few times a week. We will be updating more often when we get the birds prepared for the 1st training tosses but for now we are just flying the birds everyday we can. We will be posting new pictures of the birds so keep looking for those. Everyone have a great summer and we will keep you posted.

Hello Everyone. I want to let you know what we have planned for the pigeons this year. I had stated that we will pull flights in July when in fact we will pull flights in June. We will pox all birds the first week of July. We will not lock the birds down for more than a week after pulling flights. The weather will be hot in June and July so the birds will not be forced to fly but will continue to be let out. Hawks are not a big problem in mid summer here on the norm. That's not saying that they won't be this year but we will just have to see when the time comes. The birds are on 17 hours light and will be on lights until the day time hours exceed 15 hours of sun light. With birds coming in until mid May and replacements up till June those birds will also have their flights pulled after they have molted their 3rd flight (but only then). Our plans to start the series first race is the 1st or 2nd week of OCTOBER. We will start the series when we feel the birds are ready to go as a group and of course when the weather is good. When we say good we are talking about making sure that there are no fronts or rain on course or extreme wind. We are lofting birds daily and have added an extension to our settling pen so that the birds can get a look at the loft from a different perspective and perhaps cut down on losses while settling them in. Some of you may have been here and seen our facility before. For those who have not, it is a beautiful setting surrounded by a dense tree line on 3 sides and our loft sets down low on the property. Although it is pretty, it makes things much harder when it comes to settling birds. The ones that have a loft in the wide open plains without a doubt have it much easier. We do things a bit different because we have learned from experience the best ways for our circumstances here. We have several years behind us flying pigeons in Oklahoma and here at WOW. You can be assured that your pigeons will be trained and ready for the races and in top condition for the task. There are many roads to Rome when it comes to feeding, lofting, training, and keeping pigeons healthy. To each his own as long as it works for them. We try not to worry what the other races are doing and in fact we wish them all the best. We need good races for the Sport , so if anything we should all help each other raise the standard for One Loft Racing without being critical of others. If you do a good Job it will speak for itself to most!
Take a look at the extension to the settling pen, which is temporary. If it helps we will remodel the landing on the loft next year in a way that will serve the same purpose. Birds are coming in daily so we expect a great entry number this year. Thanks for your support and good luck to each of you. We will call you if you need to send replacements.

Birds in isolation. We keep all birds in isolation , vaccinate them for pmv-1 and treat for canker upon arrival. We have had a great group so far this year with only 3 birds that needed treatment for minor things. Those birds were given a Divit pill for 3 days and were as good as new! We tell you this only because we want you to know that we stay on top of the health of all the birds from the day they get here! When you get birds from many lofts for these races there is without a doubt going to be some health issues you must deal with. The success of the race starts at day 1 when the birds arrive. All has been great this year with no problems and the small issue with the 3 birds was caught quickly and dealt with. We urge all of you to look your birds over before shipping just to be on the safe side. It is your hard earned money and we want all of you to have a fair shot at winning! Thanks a bunch to all of you for supporting us. We will try our best to have a great race series! Randy
